This paper discusses the physical meanings of certain hydrodynamic expressions. It demonstrates that this knowledge is capable of assisting an engineer in solving even the most enigmatic problems. Also, it demonstrates how this knowledge is capable of helping the CFD-expert in executing more meaningful studies. This paper refers directly only to the design and operation of rotodynamic pumps. However, there exists strong evidence, that the arrived at conclusions may also be valid for other branches of fluids engineering.
