Abstract

A new approach to dynamic testing/analysis based on the use of video data and edge contours is presented. Structural vibration is captured by the use of a computer video camera and wavelet analysis is then applied to each video frame. The analysis employs the discrete dyadic wavelet transform and the Mallat edge detection algorithm. The method is applied to the vibration analysis of a cantilever beam with a fault.
