This paper outlines many of our experiences in the implementation of the Product Realization Process (PRP) in industry sponsored team design projects. There are two areas of emphasis. The first part reviews the Product Realization Process as implemented in our senior design courses. The second examines the concept development process in light of the implementation of “innovation” projects and conceptualization techniques. This is important on an international level to stimulate discussion on how ideas and concepts are generated around the world and how new ideas are carried to the marketing and business phases. The objective is to emphasize the ability of a company to compete effectively in a global economy.
