Abstract
A full-scale lathe test procedure is described which offers a sound and reproducible laboratory method for evaluating cutting-fluid performance. This test is based on tool-life measurements in a single-point turning operation on steel. Testing technique and data treatment are presented. Results show excellent general correlation with field-performance tests under widely varied cutting conditions.
