Abstract

The characteristics of several types of 4-way flow-control valves are derived without making linearizing assumptions. These characteristics are plotted as load flow versus load pressure, in a manner analogous to the plate characteristics of a vacuum tube. Several differential coefficients are derived and tabulated, and the valves are compared from the standpoint of linearity, sensitivity, power output, and losses.
